Welcome!

Hi there, I am Nicole. This blog is simply my little corner of the writing world. I used to own and operate the previous website known as Freelance Writer's Exchange, but my focus changed a lot and I decided to let that go and run with this.

I am a YA & Women's Fiction writer. Trying my hand at my first steamy romance novel. Wife. Mom to 5. Freelance contributor to family, food & lifestyle pubs. I love chocolate, books, photography, scrapbooking & Sushi. Not necessarily in that order.

I absolutely love comments, and love meeting new people, so please be sure and leave a comment so I know you've visited, and so I can come visit you.

Are you participating in NaNoWriMo in 2010? If you are, leave me a comment with your id and I'll add you as a friend! 2010 will be my 5th year winning, and my 7th year participating. (like the optimism?)

Script Frenzy? To Do, or Not to Do?

Script FrenzySo… do you do Script Frenzy? Have you ever? Is this your first year?

I have actually never done it before, though I have participated in NaNoWriMo for six years now.

I’m in the middle of editing one of my WIP’s right now, but I figure that I should probably need a break from it, come mid-March or so. So what do you think? Have you done Script Frenzy? How did it go?

1. I am perfectly aware that script writing is vastly different than novel writing. This might be the reason for my hesitation.
2. I already have several other WIP’s that I should work on. The intrigue of the unknown is calling me though.
3. I’m scared to death that I will fail. I have literally no clue what I am doing when it comes to writing a script. Obviously I get the general idea, but not the “How to”.

So with that all being said, Do or Not Do? That’s my question.

Funny how I was considering the same question. I say, “Why not?” If you don’t make it, it’s not a failure–it was simply an experiment in something new. If you do make it, then you’ve got your very first script. Even if it’s nothing you’d want to show anyone else, it’s something new, and you’ve flexed your writing muscles. I’d say if nothing else, it would force any creative writer to improve writing dialogue, since that’s really the basis of script writing (and the reason I’m contemplating doing it).

    Jessie,
I probably will do it. I think the same way you do. What difference does it make honestly if I fail at Script Frenzy. I failed my first two attempts at NaNoWriMo and still went on to win four times after that. So why not. If you do it, let me know. We can cheer each other one, and support each other.

Have you ever even written a script? I have not. Not even close. LOL I’m ready though. I say bring it on!

    DO IT.
Screnzy! is amazingly fun. I actually find it easier than NaNo in all honesty.
If you need any pointers, you know where to find me, madam. :)

    Hi Nicole
Gotta tell you to do the Frenzy. I have done it twice now and come away feeling like I climbed Mount Everest and won the lottery. It is so much fun to write a script. Completely different from doing novels. I have done Nano for years and love it completely, but I get to be a little different, stretch and grow with Frenzy, then I bring that energy back with me to Nano.
I am a stay-home mom of 3 writing in whatever cracks of time I find, but November and April I just do it. So glad to have bumped into you. If you do Frenzy and want a buddy, look me up. Go-mom.
