It’s a no brainer when you walk into our house, no questions need to be asked, it is not subtle. It is obvious. Our family has an obsession with books. With four book shelves in our living room alone, filled to overflowing with books, it is probably one of the first things people notice when entering our home.
To further show the families obsession with books, I have five children – each child has a bookcase and each child’s bookcase is overflowing with books and journals as well. And then there is our bedroom, where we have an additional two bookshelves, the basement where one is standing tall with books and then shall I talk about the several boxes of books (I think about nine fairly large sized boxes) filled to the brim with a variety of books. We are certainly obsessed. Hi, my name is Nicole, and I am a book-aholic.
But our obsession doesn’t stop there. We make frequent trips to the library
(sometimes twice a week) and without fail, we bring home dozens of books each time we go. In fact, this photograph is extremely reminiscent of any library visit, I, personally have taken. Yes, that is what my library haul typically looks like. And the best part is, I am known to check out the same book several times in the course of a year.
Last summer was the biggest haul we all ever made. With only six of us (myself and the five kids) on a library adventure, we came home with a whopping 79 books. Did we read them all? For the most part, yes. (a few were non fiction, and were borrowed simply for some information on something).
So today we went to the library and I brought home 22 books. When I got home, Mike asked me if I planned to read everything I got. I giggled and said “I hope.” Later, I looked back at my stash and realized that I probably would. I got books I wanted to read. Six of them however, are cookbooks so they will be browsed for some new recipes for my family, but otherwise, I plan to read them all. So, I guess I better get started, eh?
