It’s funny because I have heard people say for years that the book is better than the movie. Of course, I typically hear this about a movie I’ve seen, but a book I haven’t read. I always wondered how someone could say the book was better than the movie, especially when for the most part, any movie I’ve seen based off a book has been as close as they could get it and still tell the story. Of course honestly, I’ve read a lot of books and NOT seen the accompanying movies, and vice versa.
In the past six months, I have watched two movies that I read the books for, first. Both times, the book was far better than the movie. So now I can finally see exactly what it meant when I heard the book is better. And I finally know why, because of my own experience. I realized, that part of the reason that the two books that I read were better, is because I was able to use my imagination and see things that unfortunately were not able to be captured in a movie. So while I wouldn’t discourage anyone from seeing a movie, especially one that they might have read the book for, I do encourage you to read the book before you see the movie. You’ll definitely see what I mean.
The two movies I am referring to are: The Secret Life of Bees and Twilight. Yep, both times the book was better. Of course that is not to say the movie’s were bad, because they certainly weren’t. They just weren’t as good as the book and the imagery in my own mind.
