Many NaNo’ers complain a few week’s before NaNo starts (mostly on the forums) that they are itching to get started. I can totally relate to that, as I have been itching to get started on my story idea for week’s now. Especially when the story just keeps unfolding in my mind.
Some ideas to help with that are:
Make notes about things you plan to write about.
Name your character, and then do writing prompts from your characters point of view.
Venture into your character’s past and learn who he or she was in their early years.
Make outlines if you enjoy doing that. Make notecards if you do that. If you just wing it, then free write for 15 minutes about all the things you are looking forward to including in your story.
Blog about it – it always helps to commiserate with other’s who feel the same way.
Smile – there are only 12 days left!

Good advice! I am considering joining in this year. I have a few other projects that need finished first, but I think I can squeeze this in. I am going to take your advice in this post and see where it leads.
